I am twenty-one years old, and I have known pain worse than I ever thought I could survive.
I have witnessed the most amazing people brought to their knees by the cruelest of circumstances, but still get up and continue with their lives anyway.
I am twenty-one years old, and I have watched the world crumble into a shell of what it once was.
I have felt hope crushed by those giant ruling fists so many times I wonder why I keep coming back.
I am twenty-one years old, and every day I learn something new that makes me want to crawl under my covers and never come out.
But sometimes the light hits her face at this angle that makes her glow, and I change my mind.
And I am twenty-one years old, but I swore I wouldn’t grow old, until I met her – now I can’t wait to see her greying hair blowing in the wind while we hold hands on a porch swing.
I see heaven in her eyes every time she wakes up next to me in the morning sun.
I am twenty-one years old, and she teaches me how worthy of love I am every day, without me ever asking.
I feel butterflies erupt in my stomach and a blush take over my cheeks whenever she tells me I’m the most beautiful woman in the world (every day, constantly, without fail).
I am twenty-one years old, and even if the world ends tomorrow, I know everything will be okay because she will be by my side, no matter what.
