Sustainability Optimist

August 14, 2023

i’m a sustainability optimist.

will you share yourself with me?

we may be causing our own extinction,

but will you go down with me?

these are silly words at best,

and at their worst, a sad coping mechanism.

i feel the fire in the air,

by tomorrow i’ll be medium rare.

the temporary relief comes when i scratch the itch,

yet, it yields;

we are the itch of this earth.

how many films will be produced,

how many songs will be written,

how much longer will we need our names on things,

and how can we consume it all before we collapse into ourselves and we all

become each other in the darkness?
