I’m a writer, but this has nothing to do with that
And everything to do with stars.
If you’re afraid of the dark, this poem isn’t for you,
Because tonight I’m settling down under Mars.
Sinatra sang about them, so it must be true––
That stars will let you play with them if you ever fly to their moon.
I’m a writer, see, and that’s why I love the stars,
Because they all have names up there in the dark,
And I want to get to know them,
Know them each by name,
Just like my God does,
So I can be seen by Him
As the same.
Same shining, same consistency, with all the character and plot
And a true beginning and ending,
Because I’m a writer,
And every lighting star is
Writing her own memoir.
