Inspired by Max Richter’s Recomposed: Spring 1
I think I am a sunflower.
I never realized it until now.
Until it was finally warm enough
to go for a walk outside
where I could feel the sun’s warmth on my skin.
I let out a sigh of relief,
not even realizing that
I had been holding a breath in.
As I stood there,
eyes closed,
basking in the sun,
I could feel its warmth seep
into the deepest parts of me,
starting from the tips of my toes
and slowly working its way up
to the roots in my hair.
I took a deep breath,
and I hummed back to life.
And I felt stronger,
I felt ready,
I felt alive.
I am a sunflower.
