I spent my whole life thinking
Morning time kisses people shares in bed
Were fake.
That soap opera romance wasn’t real
Because of morning breath and sleep.
But they’re real.
And people in love
Really do kiss right when they wake up.
Who am I to wish long days away
When, at the end of it,
I come home to you.
It makes the hard parts worth it
To make the soft parts more real.
