New Year, Embracing Me

March 11, 2026

“New Year, New Me” smuggles the feeling of seasickness onto my boat of the S.S. Overwhelm and Quit. Who says there is anything wrong, that you need changing in the first place? Where do most of our ideas to flip the script and rewrite the narrative stem from? All we know from being spoon-fed until throwing up, is that perception is reality. When our eyes behold oceans of species, we know there will always be more fulfillment in adapting to a new way of life based on happiness and bettering ourselves. Why change yourself and lose your authentic self in the gust of wind in the blinding sails? Sand sits in your eyes and for a moment you see what molds from anxious sweat and tears in your lenses, not what you want from it. The particles itch your brain the wrong way of thinking that losing weight is the only way to fit into society, but that is so far from the truth. Society is a pipe dream inhaled coldly by those that shriek at the expression of creativity and wonder. A modern take on society is the last potato chip at the bottom of the bag that you are excited to taste, only to find it is stale and breaks your teeth. So, wipe the sand from your eyes and form your own coherent thoughts and opinions!

Clear-eyed and minding your own business, you can feel within your soul that you want to lose weight because you crave to feel good internally and externally, or maybe you want to be an active parent to teach your children the habit of any physical movement or activity is good for the body.

Dive into emotions, daydream your future, and trash and burn all the “How To” guides that do not take your specific ideals into consideration. Ninety percent of the time throughout your lifetime, you are the only human to know what is best for you. Our mind can speak volumes, but our body cannot whisper the smallest call for help; it is our own responsibility to tune into our body’s needs. Our bodies do not require stress, pain, or harsh negative thoughts about them. They will only thrive in environments that provide nourishment, safety, care, and love, mentally and physically.

You have always owned the living blueprint of the version of yourself that you wish to be. Change is normal, and so is learning about who you are, but there is no need to demolish everything you know and love to improve yourself. Working with what you have will strengthen the bare bones, and maybe even seduce self-love to sprout within your garden.

What is new to others may not be new to you, because you have already daydreamed about the change that makes you happy and betters you for months.

Remember it isn’t “New Year, New Me.” It’s “New Year, I am embracing me.”
