Words withheld
Writhe in my chest,
Pushing, pulling, prying to get out.
They vomit up—the words from my mouth,
And I sop it away with paper from my desk.
Ink for blood—
It burns to bleed.
It spills cursive choruses into life sentences
And molds me through the door of a writer’s entrance.
I’ll inhale, impatient is the itch
To tame the words that twist inside
Myself meant to make literary music,
Literary lines of love and life—
A life worth wild words of
Breath beating through my body.
