Four friends baked for two to five hours in the sun
Pokémon cards and dead leaves from the bushes
A warm wind from the south
Seagull feathers
A block of firewood from under the deck
Otter Pops, grape or cherry flavored, since the others were eaten first
A praying mantis in cupped hands
Something to dangle over the neighbor’s fence so we can play a game of Kick-It
Band-Aids for after a game of Kick-It
Tomatoes and strawberries from the garden
Parents calling us inside
The smell of cut grass
An empty wasp nest
Tumbleweeds blooming in small bursts of yellow
Parents calling us inside, again
The smell of tonight’s thunderstorm
The most beautiful sunset you’ve ever seen
