I can’t fly,
But I can walk—
On a trail that cuts through the hills and mountains,
The wind gently urging me forward,
Excited to show me the top of the world.
I can’t fly,
But I can run—
Through a forest of leaves and twigs and shrubs and grass,
The treetops above cheering me on
As the sun’s golden rays light my path.
I can’t fly,
But I can swim—
In the rivers and the oceans and the lakes and the springs,
Where the water trickles and flows and crashes and falls,
And the world below rises to greet me.
I can’t fly,
But I can dance—
To the tune of crickets and fireflies
As the sun goes down and night paints the sky
And the moon begins to shine.
I can’t fly,
But I can do so much more—
And thank God for that.
