You let me peek at your
Scars just for long enough
To piece them together
Like a puzzle in my mind,
Not for long enough to know
How to take care
Of them.
You don’t want me
To help you,
But I know
Just enough to know
That I touched something
That is sore and painful
At every given moment.
I’m sorry.
What I didn’t say
Tonight, is that I wish
You
Would let me in,
Let someone in,
But that is not up to me.
I want you
To know what it’s like
To be the most important person in someone’s life.
I want you
To know what it’s like
To have someone ask you
For what you need
And be willing to do it.
I want you
To know what it’s like
To be prayed for
By someone who loves you.
I may not know you,
But I love you.
I can’t
Give you much,
But I want you
To know what it’s like
To be loved
The way
You
Never got to be.
Thank you
For being you.
Thank you
For being here.
