Solitary Lovers

March 9, 2026

We were lying under

The Las Vegas stars,

Trying to name them.

It was a moment so

Magical and special

That I was struggling

To even try to give

Them sufficient names.

What do you do

In the midst of something so perfect?

You pointed between two stars

Across from each other in the sky.

You said,

“See them?

Let’s call them

Solitary Lovers.

They’re far apart,

But they’re still connected.

Even though

They’re not together,

They’re still

Thinking of each other.”

We continued to count the stars,

Neither of us saying

How in a month

I was moving away.
