in my life, i am the sunrise:
the colorful shine of the morning
gently removing the thorns lodged in
your side.
in my poetry, i am the storm:
the dark cloud shrouding the sun
cleansing the grayscale and the pale
of your shade.
in my mind, i am a Bob Ross landscape:
a forest made up of shaded trees
transformed from happy little accidents
all for your sight.
but where is the place where i am for me?
a vista painted, curated
for my eyes only?
it changes daily.
“the court should never be influenced
by the weather of the day,
but inevitably,
they will be influenced
by the climate of the era.”
Kailani is an amateur writer. She writes for the love of writing. It is her sincerest form of expression—a way to put her wide-ranging ideas and life experiences into something cohesive. As a clinical therapist, she helps others find, listen to, and use their voice. And her writing is her voice. The world as she experiences it is her inspiration, and her love of personal flair fuels her style. She doesn’t think she’s to write the next great American novel, but she’s to write something. Stay curious.
