The world was draped in indigo hues,

as I wandered through it all with you.

 I opted for different,

enticed by its call,

nature’s shades beckoning,

inviting us all.

I asked him what it meant to see,

through the eyes of those he’d be.

He never knew the calm of air and sea;

for him, life blazed in vibrant green.

You wept when I chose novelty and play,

tossed us aside without delay.

You cried when I decided on novelty and fun–

threw us away and jumped the gun.

I cried because, all too well, I knew:

The grass isn’t always greener,

when all I want is blue.

Kailani is an amateur writer. She writes for the love of writing. It is her sincerest form of expression—a way to put her wide-ranging ideas and life experiences into something cohesive. As a clinical therapist, she helps others find, listen to, and use their voice. And her writing is her voice. The world as she experiences it is her inspiration, and her love of personal flair fuels her style. She doesn’t think she’s to write the next great American novel, but she’s to write something. Stay curious.
